Bonnie Burton is a trauma survivor who writes about therapy from the inside. As a gifted writer, she conveys some essential truths about the process of therapy, and shatters some stereotypes along the way. Her experiences with good therapists and not-so-good therapists are essential reading for client and therapist alike. Ms. Burton's own experience of therapy convinces her, for example, that trauma survivors don't always make the best trauma therapists. This is especially true if they never completed their own therapy. She has seen them react with fear and dissociation in response to traumatic material or negative emotions expressed in a session. While we don't learn who her current therapist is, it is clear that they are working together toward healing. She writes with clarity and maturity; and without a chip on her shoulder. It is a privilege to publish an article from a guest author who is such an articulate therapy client. This article will help me be a better therapist. Read Bonnie Burton's insightful article.

Diflucan - 50, 100, 150mg
So maybe youre about to take Diflucan. You probably have some questions. Like, can a pill like Diflucan really work for a vaginal yeast infection? When will I feel relief? Should I just buy a cream? As you know, Diflucan is unlike cream medications - its 1 pill, 1 time, and no mess. Thats right. No applicators. No tubes. Just 1 little pink pill. Diflucan is unique. Diflucan is the only oral treatment for vaginal yeast infections, and its just as effective as Monistat 7, but with no mess.
Diflucan Drug Information
Drug Name: DIFLUCAN
IMPORTANT DIFLUCAN NOTE:
THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS INTENDED TO SUPPLEMENT, NOT SUBSTITUTE FOR, THE EXPERTISE AND JUDGMENT OF YOUR PHYSICIAN, PHARMACIST OR OTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL. IT SHOULD NOT BE CONSTRUED TO INDICATE THAT USE OF THE DRUG IS SAFE, APPROPRIATE, OR EFFECTIVE FOR YOU. CONSULT YOUR HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONAL BEFORE USING DIFLUCAN.
FLUCONAZOLE - ORAL (flew-CON-uh-zole)
COMMON DIFLUCAN
AND NAME(S):
Diflucan
DIFLUCAN USES:
Diflucan is an antifungal agent used to treat infections in certain areas of the body caused by yeast and yeast-like organisms.
HOW TO USE DIFLUCAN:
Diflucan works best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Do this by taking Diflucan at evenly spaced intervals. Take Diflucan as directed since different conditions require different methods of use. Diflucan is usually taken once daily. Another Diflucan dosing method involves taking Diflucan for one week per month until treatment is completed. Continue to take Diflucan until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping Diflucan too early may allow the yeast to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.
DIFLUCAN SIDE EFFECTS:
Diflucan may cause stomach upset, loss of appetite, altered taste, diarrhea, nausea, headache or dizziness during the first few days as your body adjusts to Diflucan. If these symptoms persist or become severe, inform your doctor. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to Diflucan, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice other effects while taking Diflucan not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
DIFLUCAN PRECAUTIONS:
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: liver disease, kidney disease, any drug allergies. Diflucan should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits of taking Diflucan with your doctor. Fluconazole is excreted into breast milk. The manufacturer of Diflucan recommends it not be used while breast-feeding. Consult your doctor before you breast-feed while using Diflucan.
DIFLUCAN DRUG INTERACTIONS:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: astemizole, cisapride, cimetidine, oral contraceptives, cyclosporine, oral antidiabetic drugs, hydrochlorothiazide, phenytoin, rifampin, rifabutin, certain benzodiazepines (e.g., alprazolam, triazolam), tacrolimus, terfenadine, theophylline, warfarin, zidovudine. Do not start or stop Diflucan or any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
DIFLUCAN OVERDOSE:
If Diflucan overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of Diflucan overdose may include hallucinations and changes in behavior.
DIFLUCAN NOTES:
Diflucan has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use Diflucan later for another infection or give it to someone else. A different medicine similar to Diflucan may be needed.
MISSED DIFLUCAN DOSE:
If you miss Diflucan a dose, take Diflucan as soon as remembered. If it is almost time for the next Diflucan dose, take the scheduled dose only. Do not "double-up" the Diflucan dose to catch up.
DIFLUCAN STORAGE:
Store Diflucan at room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store Diflucan in the bathroom.

Lose the anxiety, find a sitter
Whenever people ask why I chose a group day-care setting, rather than a nanny, when my daughter was an infant, I rattle off answers about socialization and lower costs and wanting my child to learn how to share and blah, blah, blah. The truth, of course, is much more embarrassing.
I conducted exactly two nanny interviews, and while both women were perfectly sweet and probably wonderful at their jobs, I couldnt shake the fear that I would return home from work one day to find my had kidnapped my daughter and fled for the hills, never to be heard from again. In fact, I sort of worried about a mid-interview kidnapping. I know. Pathetic.
But finding a good baby-sitter¿not necessarily a full-time nanny¿does not have to be an exercise in anxiety and blind faith. It also doesnt have to mean hiring a blood relative or the neighbor next door, which seemed to be the dominant options a generation ago.
The baby-sitting landscape has changed dramatically in the last 10 years, says Genevieve Thiers, founder and CEO of sittercity.com, a national online child-care service. The Internet has become the place du jour to find a baby-sitter or a nanny.
Thiers says two major cultural shifts have changed the way we find sitters. ve become much more transient, where we move from major city to major city, so we touch down and have no network. No family, no friends¿sort of a stranger-in-a-strange-land situation, she says. In addition to that, the rise in extracurricular activities among high school students has led to the students becoming less and less available.
But Thiers contends that searching for a sitter today is actually safer and more reliable than ever¿provided you follow the correct steps. Whether you use a service like Sittercity, which has a database of more than 100,000 baby-sitters and nannies organized by ZIP code, or conduct your own search on- or offline, employ these tips for a worry-free hunt.
Know the lingo. Are you looking for a mothers helper (usually a younger sitter who comes over to tend to the kids while a parent is home), a baby-sitter (who comes to your house for fewer than 20 hours a week at an hourly rate) or a nanny (who spends 20 or more hours a week in your home and is paid like a full-time employee)? State your needs upfront.
Ask the right questions. Thiers says her big three are: Do you know CPR, first aid and the Heimlich maneuver? What is your experience? and What are your theories on discipline? Youll have a lot more questions about your specific needs, of course, but those three are critical.
Think about age. The market trend is toward 18-plus sitters, Thiers says. But the most important thing is for parents to have a clear picture of what they want before they jump in. Older sitters (meaning post-high school) are often more mature, have more experience and usually can drive. They also tend to charge more. Younger sitters may have a little more energy and engage your kids in more play. College-age sitters, once a rarity, according to Thiers, are quite prevalent now. And they tend to be available on weekends.
Know the going rate. You can find a rate calculator at babysitters.sittercity.com/rate_calculat or.html but in general you should expect to pay $10-$14 an hour, depending on the sitters age and experience, the number of children she/he will be watching and your proximity to a big city.
Talk money. Thiers recommends asking an interviewee about his/her preferred rate before making an offer. If its much higher or lower than what you were planning to pay, you may want to reconsider your rate, assuming you like the candidate. Younger sitters will often answer, I dont know, Thiers says, in which case you can throw out a number youre comfortable with and see how they react. The key is for you to go into the interview knowing what you plan to pay.
Screen them. Always ask for references and always check them out. Thiers recommends going a step further and conducting a statewide or national background check as well. You can use LexisNexis, backgroundchecks.com or just Google background check and find another outlet. Most checks cost between $10 and $80, depending on how far-reaching they are. All sitters listed on Sittercity have already been put through a national background check.

Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription label.
BuSpar is usually taken for only a short time. Do not take this medication for longer than 4 weeks without your doctors advice. You may take BuSpar with or without food but take it the same way each time.
Some tablet forms of BuSpar (Buspar Dividose) may need to be broken before you take the medicine. These tablets have special scored marks on them to make breaking the tablet easy. Do not use the tablet if it has not broken correctly and the piece is too big or too small. Follow your doctors instructions about how much of the tablet to take.
If you have been switched to BuSpar from another anxiety medication, you may need to slowly decrease your dose of the other medication rather than stopping suddenly. Some anxiety medications can cause withdrawal symptoms when you stop taking them suddenly after long-term use.
Store BuSpar at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

A new study in the February issue of the Journal of Development Behavioral Pediatrics reports that an Internet program helps to reduce depression symptoms and prevents future episodes of depression in teens.
The program, called "Project CATCH-IT," uses proven methods, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, behavioral activation and interpersonal therapy, to teach the teens to change their behavior and to learn better coping skills. It includes a series of 14 modules that the teens can work through online through a secure website.
The researchers tested the program in 83 teens and young adults who were considered to be at risk for depression. The patients were randomly assigned to undergo either a brief discussion about depression with a doctor or a longer "motivational interview." Both groups were then given the Internet address for Project CATCH-IT.
Most of the teens in the study opted to visit the website, which was found to be effective in preventing future episodes of the depression. Based on a standard score, the percentage of patients with "clinically significant" depression decreased from 50% at the start of the study to no more than 15% at the three months follow-up.
The researchers hypothesized that the teens who had received the motivational interview might do better than those who had only talked briefly with a doctor, but overall depression scores were similar for both groups. Those who had received the motivational interview did do better in certain areas, however, such as having fewer thoughts of self-harm and hopelessness. Patients who received the motivational interview also spent more time using the website, which may have contributed to their additional improvements.
Study author Dr. Benjamin W. Van Voorhees of the University of Chicago suggests that Internet-based programs like Project CATCH-IT "may offer a low-cost way to implement depression prevention in community settings."
A version of Project CATCH-IT is available to the general public at http://catchit-public.bsd.uchicago.edu/.

I'll admit my first reaction was, "How rude! If you don't like the newsletter, unsubscribe!" Then I thought some more and this guy is totally right. I've completely lost touch with what it's like to be a single, depressed person on Valentine's Day. Looking back, I remember many days when I would see happy couples walk by and I would be eaten up by jealousy and anger. If you're feeling lonely, Valentine's Day is just a painful reminder of how alone you feel.
During the month of February, everywhere we look there are hearts, cupids, and pictures of romantic couples exchanging deep and meaningful glances. Single people feel as if they have no place on Valentine's Day. It's just another day to trudge through life without someone to share it with.

since i was a kid i have been depressed. but its not just depression. its these other feelings i get. i used to like the way getting mad made me feel. that was the first thing. over the years i started to abuse drugs and alcohol.i still have episodes where i use heavier drugs and alcohol because i feel so depressed that i just dont care anymore. its hard to describe just how i feel and im starting to think i have something more then depression. i went to college and started having panic attacks. i got a psychitrist and paxil, both of which i quit because i hated the way they made me feel. recently ive been getting uncontrollable depression, jealousy and anger. but these times are mixed with periods where i think im the best person in the world and im uber intelligent (which i know is not true) then sharply contradicted with self hate.i always have suicide in my mind. i think of it as my way to solve all these problems as nothing else helps.
one day i hate myself and my life and i dont care about what i do or say or look like. i could care less to shower. other days i feel like im the most attractive person in the world and my sex drive shoots up and i feel like the best thing in the world. what the hell is wrong with me? what do i tell my doctor?who do i talk to? help
i look at text messages i send, and its as if there are two people inside of me.

I dont want to switch pharmacies. I get 2 prescriptions at my local pharmacy. My new prescription (#3) is not covered by my insurance. It is about $10 cheaper at an online pharmacy like drugstore.com than at my local pharmacy. Can I go to the new pharmacy just for the new prescription?
bmac It would not be a weird, off-brand site. Places like drugstore.com are fine. It is a brand name prescription and will not be $4 at Target.
Yep! I work at a pharmacy and have a lot of people come to ours from other pharmacies, or only get some of them at my pharmacy because of the same deal- they can get them cheaper elsewhere.
