i am hypertensive and have had preeclampsia before. now i am pregnant and my doctor put me on ecotrin. Has anyone out there gone through this.? Plesae tell me your experiences. I really need some encouragement.

I had preeclampsia with all 3 of my pregnancys. With my second I was told take a a baby aspirin a day which is basically what your taking, to help thin my blood but i was also put on a blood pressure medication to help control the high blood pressure. i think it was called metheldoppa but it is a low dose and one of the only safe blood pressure meds a pregnant woman can take, talk to your obgyn about it if your blood pressure begins to rise. I started taking the meds at 17 weeks of pregnancy. the blood pressure med was started at 500mg a day and at 22 weeks was bumped to 1000mg a day. I really dont think I would be alive today without the blood pressure med, i was placed in the hospital on bed rest and delivered my son the day i turned 35 weeks by emergency c-section. My blood pressure had become to high and wouldnt come down. Due to the preeclampsia my son was very small and the doctors said he looked more like a 32week gestation baby than a 35 week one. I would say to watch your diet. try to not eat salty foods, stay away from fast food. Salt can make you bloat. Drink plenty of fluids, juice and water. Stay away from sodas because of the salt. try not to get stressed out. exercise and lots of rest, anytime your legs swell prop them up. I did these thing with my 3rd pregnancy and was able to go full term for the first time and the preeclampsia hit me the last 3 weeks of pregnancy instead early on like my first two pregnancys having to deliver at 35 weeks. Having preeclampsia 3 times I know the swelling is much worse and doesnt come down with proping your legs up but it should still be done. Stress can and will raise your blood pressure. Good luck to you and your baby and take care.
